Peter Ratchuk recorded one of the Penguins’ eight goals against the Admirals on January 13, 2002

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will welcome an unfamiliar foe to NEPA on Friday night, as they host the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:05pm.

The contest will be just the third ever regular season meeting between the clubs, and the first since the 2001-02 season.

January 4, 2002 saw the Pens and Admirals square off for the first time, with Milwaukee taking a 2-1 decision in Wisconsin.  Robert Dome scored the lone Wilkes-Barre goal, while Robbie Tallas made 36 saves in a losing effort.

The Penguins came out on top in the return meeting, an 8-5 victory on January 13 in Wilkes-Barre.  Eric Meloche (1+2), Martin Sonnenberg (2+0), Tomas Surovy (1+1), Mike Wilson (1+1) and Alexandre Mathieu (0+2) each recorded multiple point efforts for the home club.  Sebastien Caron made 33 saves in net for the Pens.

The teams also met in the 2004 Calder Cup Finals, with the Admirals posting four straight wins to capture their only AHL championship.
