The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Garrett Wilson from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced Saturday by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
Wilson, 27, made his Pittsburgh debut earlier this month, averaging 7:38 minutes in four games with the Penguins. Prior to playing for Pittsburgh, Wilson had played 34 regular-season and six postseason contests for the Florida Panthers between 2014-16.
The 6-foot-2, 199-pound Wilson is in his third season in the Pittsburgh organization, where he is serving as the WBS Penguins’ captain for the first time. At the AHL level, Wilson has 11 points (6G-5A) and 34 penalty minutes in 12 games this year. Four of his six goals have come on the power play.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton returns home to face the Hershey Bears tonight at 7:05pm. The Penguins will be wearing special lavender jerseys as part of Hockey Fights Cancer on Saturday night. Those jerseys will be auction to benefit the Mario Lemieux Foundation via the DASH Auction App.
