The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins travel south to take on the Charlotte Checkers in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday nights. This is the Penguins’ first time visiting Bojangles’ Coliseum this season, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton is looking to avenge a pair of tight losses against the Checkers from earlier in November.

Tonight’s game can be viewed for FREE via Facebook Watch (see link below).

The Penguins return home next week to play the Rochester Americans on Friday, January 18, and face off with the Hershey Bears on Saturday, January 19.

NOTES

The Charlotte Checkers currently hold the best record in the AHL (38-27-8-3) and are tied for the most goals for in the league (133).

Teddy Blueger currently leads Wilkes-Barre/Scranton team in both goals (16) and points (29) for the season. 

Blueger has netted six goals and seven points in his last six games. 

Defenseman Ethan Prow (10G-13A) was selected to represent the Penguins at the 2019 AHL All-Star Classic at the end of the month.  Defenseman Trevor Carrick (6G-16A) and forward Janne Kuokkanen (11G-18A) will be the Checkers’ representatives at the event.

Carrick is currently tied for third among league blueliners with 10 power play assists and is tied for second with three game-winning goals. 

Anthony Angello is tied for the league’s best plus/minus rating among rookie forwards (plus-15). 

Anthony Peters played one game for Charlotte during the 2015-16 season after being named the Canadian Interuniversity Sport Goaltender of the Year in his senior season with St. Mary’s University.
