The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will look to continue their winning streak this Friday when they take on the Springfield Thunderbirds at the MassMutual Center. This will be the third of six match-ups between these two teams.

The teams have split the season series thus far at one apiece, each team winning at home.  Springfield defeated the Penguins on November 2nd 4-3 in a shootout and the Penguins were able to take revenge on November 15 with a commanding 4-1 victory.

PENGUINS NOTES

Casey DeSmith has only allowed one goal in his last three starts. 

Stefan Noesen is second in the league lead in goals (11), trailing Utica Comets winger Reid Boucher.

Forward Andrew Agozzino has scored four goals in his last four games.

Casey DeSmith allowed only one goal on 42 shots against the Thunderbirds on November 15.

The Penguins are second in the Atlantic Division in power play percentage (19.7%).


THUNDERBIRDS NOTES

The Florida Panthers recalled Dominic Toninato from the Thunderbirds on Monday.  Toninato had five goals and three assists in 15 games with Springfield.

The Florida Panthers reassigned Dryden Hunt to the Thunderbirds on Monday.  Hunt played 20 games with the Panthers this season and had four assists.  In his past two seasons with Springfield, Hunt has recorded 46 goals and 44 assists.

Goaltender Chris Driedger leads the AHL in save percentage (.942).


THUNDERBIRD-PENS CONNECTIONS

Springfield defenseman, Ethan Prow, played four seasons with the Penguins, from the 2015-16 season until 2018-19.  In his most recent season as a Penguin, Prow recorded 18 goals and 32 assists in 74 games.

Paul Thompson, a Thunderbird forward, played with the Pens from 2010-2014.  During this span, Thompson played 170 games and produced 35 goals and 29 assists.
