PENGUINS ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Group tickets and other ticket plans are available directly from the Penguins ticket office. For more information on Penguins season tickets, mini-plans and other special offers, contact the Penguins at 570-208-7367.
UPCOMING ACTION:
Friday, January 18 & Saturday, January 19 @ Norfolk – 7:15pm both nights: The Penguins (23-13-0-2, 48 points, second place in East Division) travel to Virginia to face-off with the Norfolk Admirals (11-25-1-3, 26 points, seventh in the East Division) in a two-game set. The Admirals currently have the lowest wins and points totals in the AHL, and are just 1-8-0-1 in their past 10 games. The Penguins have a 2-1-0-0 record against Norfolk so far this season, winning twice on home ice and dropping a 5-3 decision on December 8 at the Scope. The teams will meet five more times this season after Saturday night’s contest.
Sunday, January 20 @ Hershey 5:00pm: The Bears (22-15-0-2, 46 points, third in East Division) will be looking for revenge after a 3-1 come-from-behind victory for the Penguins this past Friday night in Wilkes-Barre. The Pens have a 3-2-0-0 record against Hershey so far this season, with four more games against the Bears after Sunday afternoon’s contest. Bears netminder Daren Machesney ranks second in the AHL with a 2.14 goals against average and a .929 save percentage entering this week’s action.
All Penguins games can be seen live via the B2 networks, and can be heard on 92.1 QFM, and via the Penguins website at www.wbspenguins.com
PENGUINS POINTS OF INTEREST:
MAC ATTACK – Kurtis McLean netted two goals less than six minutes apart to help the Penguins to a 3-1, come from behind win against the Hershey Bears on Friday, January 11. McLean now has 18 points (7+11) in his past 13 games, including four game-winning goals in that span. He ranks tied for second in the league in GWG this season.
HOT CURRY – Rookie netminder John Curry has recorded wins in each of his last seven appearances, and now has a 1.82 goals against average on the season with an 8-3-1 record, one shutout and a .923 save percentage. Curry has played 724 minutes this season, meaning he sits just outside the threshold of 780 minutes to make him eligible for league leader status. He would rank first in the AHL in goals against average if he qualified.
LETES-TWO: Forward Mark Letestu recorded his first AHL goal on Jan. 2 vs. Syracuse, and quickly upped his total to three tallies when he scored twice against the Lake Erie Monsters on Wednesday night. He notched his fourth goal in as many games on Friday night against Hershey, and added a fifth Saturday against Philadelphia. He now has five goals in his past five games, after failing to record a goal in his first 20 AHL contests (three last season, 17 this season).
KILLING TIME: Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has stopped 46 of the past 50 power play attempts they have faced during their past 14 games (92%). The Pens now rank second in the league in penalty killing at 86.3% (158 of 183).
