PITTSBURGH ASSIGNS KENNEDY TO
WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned forward Tyler Kennedy to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL), it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. 

Kennedy has scored 12 points (eight goals, four assists) in 31 games with Pittsburgh during two separate recall stints from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.  He missed eight games from January 19th to February 7th due to mononucleosis.  Kennedy currently is tied for the lead among NHL rookies with four game-winning goals.  He was selected to play in the YoungStars Game at the NHL All-Star Weekend, but could not participate due to the illness. 

The second year pro has seven points (3+4) in seven games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. He recorded 37 points (12+25) while appearing in 40 games with the AHL club last year.

Kennedy was originally selected by the Penguins in the fourth round (99th overall) in the 2004 NHL Draft.

The Penguins return to Northeast Pennsylvania on Friday night, February 8, when they will host the Portland Pirates on Military Appreciation Night.  The first 6,000 fans through the doors will receive a camouflaged Penguins hat, while the team will wear special camouflaged jerseys during the game.
