The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed forward Kyle Rank to an American Hockey League contract, it was announced on Monday.
The 24-year old Rank led the St. Lawrence Saints (ECAC) with 15 goals and 33 points during his senior season and was awarded First Team All-ECAC honors. The Elmira, Ontario native served as team captain and was also named the league’s top defensive forward as the Saints captured the ECAC regular season championship with a record of 16-5-1 (33 points).
The 6-1, 190 pound Rank also appeared in 10 games with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers after signing an Amateur Tryout Contract on March 30, 2007. He recorded four points (2+2), five penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating with the AHL club.
Rank appeared in all 40 games for St. Lawrence in 2005-06, tying for second on the team with 28 points (11+17). In four seasons with the Saints, Rank recorded 99 points (39+60) and 127 penalty minutes in 151 games, and was
