PITTSBURGH PENGUINS SIGN BEN LOVEJOY

groupWILKES-BARRE, PA –  The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Ben Lovejoy to an NHL two-way contract, it was announced on Monday by Executive Vice President and General Manager, Ray Shero.

Lovejoy, 24, appeared in 72 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton during the 2007-08 season, recording 20 points (2+18) and a team-best plus-16 rating.  The native of New Canaan, New Hampshire, also suited up for all 23 of the Penguins Calder Cup Playoff contests, recording 10 points (2+8) and a plus-3 rating.

Lovejoy spent three seasons (2004-05 through 2006-07) at Dartmouth College, recording 54 points (11+43) in 96 games. 
He began his collegiate career at Boston College in 2002-03, posting six assists in 22 contests.

Following the completion of his college career, Lovejoy signed an Amateur Tryout Contract with the Norfolk Admirals (AHL) on March 22.  He appeared in five games with Norfolk, going scoreless with six penalty minutes.

The 6-2, 210 pound Lovejoy was originally signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on June 13, 2007.
