The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled defenseman Kris Letang from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL), and returned center Tyler Kennedy and defenseman Alain Nasreddine to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, it was announced on Tuesday.
Letang, 20, has appeared in 10 games with the AHL Penguins, ranking third on the team in points (7) and first in assists (6). The native of Montreal was selected in the third round (62nd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by Pittsburgh.
Kennedy, 21, began the season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, scoring five points (3+2) in six games with the team. He was recalled by Pittsburgh on October 27, and appeared in six games with Pittsburgh, recording one goal and two penalty minutes.
The Sault Ste. Marie native appeared in 40 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, recording 37 points (12+25). He missed most of the second half of the campaign due to an abdominal injury.
Kennedy was selected in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
Nasreddine has appeared in four games with Pittsburgh this season, going scoreless and minus-3. He also played two games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a conditioning assignment earlier this season, recording one goal.
Nasreddine, 32, appeared in 44 games for Pittsburgh during the 2006-07 season collecting five points (1+4) and ranked second on the team with a plus-12 rating. He has until 12:00 noon on Wednesday to clear waivers, at which time he will be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The Penguins return to action on Wednesday morning when they take on the Philadelphia Phantoms in a special 11:05am face-off at the Spectrum. Due to a scheduling conflict with the Penguins regular radio carrier, QFM 92.1 and 100.1, Wednesday morning’s game will be carried on ESPN Radio 630 and 1240.
