ADMIRALS TAKE FOURTH OF SEASON FROM PENGUINS

A pair of first period tallies and the solid goaltending of John Gibson was all the Norfolk Admirals needed to post a 2-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.  The win was the fourth of the season for the Admirals ( 23-13-1-7, 54 points) against the Penguins (26-15-1-3, 56 points), and pulled the visitors to within two points of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for second place in the East Division. PENGUINS BEGIN HOME STAND WITH SHUTOUT OF CRUNCH

PENGUINS SIGN GOERS TO PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed defenseman Barry Goers to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).  In addition, defensemen Nick D’Agostino and Harrison Ruopp have been assigned to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL).    Goers joins the Penguins for the second time this season, having signed a PTO with the team on December 13.  In seven games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Goers collected… read more

PENGUINS SUFFER SHUTOUT LOSS TO BEARS

SILL RETURNS TO WILKES-BARRE

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward ZACH SILL to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced Thursday by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Sill, 25, has played in 20 NHL games this season with Pittsburgh, serving as a major contributor to the Penguins’ No. 1-ranked penalty killing unit by averaging 1:54 shorthanded minutes per game.
