JARRETT BURTON RELEASED FROM PTO

April 24, 2016   WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have released forward Jarrett Burton from his professional tryout contract. Burton will join the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), the team he led in points at the time of his PTO signing with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton back on Feb. 6, 2016. JARRY RE-JOINS WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

  April 20, 2016   The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned goaltender Tristan Jarry to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.   Jarry, 20, dressed as the Penguins’ backup goaltender behind Jeff Zatkoff for Games 1 and 2 of Pittsburgh’s First Round series against the New York Rangers.   This season, Jarry went 17-13-3 in 33 AHL regular-season games as a rookie for WBS.… read more

DANIEL SPRONG ASSIGNED TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

April 19, 2016   WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced forward Daniel Sprong has been assigned by the Pittsburgh Penguins (NHL) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from his junior club, the Charlottetown Islanders (QMJHL). The first Dutch native drafted by an NHL club when Pittsburgh took him 46th overall in the 2015 draft, Sprong appeared in 18 games with Pittsburgh earlier in the season as an 18-year-old, tallying two goals. PENGUINS SIGN GOALIE CASEY DeSMITH

April 10, 2016   WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed goaltender Casey DeSmith to a professional tryout contract. DeSmith 24, is in his first season of professional hockey and has appeared in 13 games with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) this year. CARTER ROWNEY NAMED CCM/AHL PLAYER OF THE MONTH

April 1, 2016   WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The American Hockey League announced today that Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins forward Carter Rowney has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Month for March.
