MURRAY NAMED TO 2014-15 AHL ALL-ROOKIE TEAM

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in conjunction with American Hockey League, have announced that goaltender Matt Murray has been named to 2014-15 AHL All-Rookie Team, as voted by coaches, players and media in each of the league’s 30 member cities.    Murray has rewritten the AHL record books during his first-year of professional hockey.  From Feb. 3 to Feb. 8, the 20-year-old held Penguins opponents off the scoreboard for 304 minutes and 11 seconds,… read more

W-B/Scranton claims two wins during three-game homestand    Weekly Rewind Wed., Apr. 1 – PENGUINS 4 vs. Hartford 3 Dominik Uher scored twice and Brian Dumoulin gathered three assists to help W/B-Scranton edge the Hartford Wolf Pack, 4-3.  Down by one in the second, Jayson Megna tied the score with his team-leading 21st goal of the season. PENGUINS SIGN SHAMANSKI TO PTO

  WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today announced that they have signed defenseman Steven Shamanski to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).   Shamanski, 25, has played in 68 games this season for the ECHL’s Elmira Jackals, recording 14 goals, 24 assists and 58 penalty minutes.  A first-year pro from Carberry, Manitoba, Shamanski ranked fourth on the Jackals in points (38) and was third among ECHL defensemen in goals (14).    He represented… read more

JARRY ASSIGNED TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

  WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned goaltender Tristan Jarry from the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced today.   Jarry recently completed his fourth season in Edmonton, where he went 23-26-6 with a 2.74 goals against average, .907 save percentage and three shutouts.    In 2013-14, Jarry helped the Oil Kings to the Memorial Cup, making 32 saves in a 6-3 victory over the Guelph… read more

PENGUINS RECALL CLARK SEYMOUR FROM WHEELING

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Kasperi Kapanen from KalPa of the Finnish League to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.
