Upcoming weekend sees W-B/Scranton battle East Division foes  Weekly Rewind Fri., Dec. 20– PENGUINS 1 vs. Worcester 4 Worcester held W-B/Scranton to eight shots through two periods and built a three-goal lead before scoring a 4-1 triumph in Wilkes-Barre. WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed center Zack Torquato to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).    Currently in his third season with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), Torquato has registered 31 points (9g-22a) and 18 penalty minutes in 25 games this season and is the team’s leader in goals, assists and points. WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed defenseman Barry Goers to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).    A fourth-year pro from Ivyland, Pa., Goers has posted one goal, four assists and two penalty minutes in 10 games for the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers.  The 27-year old has skated in 40 American Hockey League contests with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and Lake Erie Monsters, collecting eight assists and 19 PIM.  … read more

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Harry Zolnierczyk to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced Tuesday by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Zolnierczyk, 26, has appeared in three games during two recalls by Pittsburgh this season, going scoreless. Zolnierczyk leads Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with nine goals in 18 AHL games this season.
