PENGUINS RECALL MANDERSON, SIGN GOERS

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Denver Manderson has been recalled from loan to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) and defenseman Barry Goers has been signed to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).    Manderson, 24, has appeared in 25 games this season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, netting his first AHL goal on Jan. 29, and also recording six assists and four penalty minutes.  Assigned to Wheeling on Saturday, Manderson registered… read more

PENGUINS ACQUIRE SPENCER MACHACEK FROM COLUMBUS

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired forward Spencer Machacek from the Columbus Blue Jackets for Paul Thompson, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Machacek will report to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL). Machacek, 25, has played in 34 games this season with the Springfield Falcons of the AHL, collecting nine goals and 19 points. His nine goals placed third on the team. HARTZELL NAMED CCM/AHL GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today that Eric Hartzell has been selected as CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for January.   Hartzell made 10 appearances during the month and allowed two goals or fewer in each of them, posting a record of 5-2-0 with a 1.33 goals-against average, a .944 save percentage and one shutout.   Hartzell began January with a 23-save performance in a 4-1 win over Binghamton on… read more
