FORMER WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON HEAD COACH MAKES HOCKEY HISTORY

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Dan Bylsma made professional hockey history on Tuesday night, becoming the first person ever to start a season as an American Hockey League head coach and then guide a National Hockey League team to the Stanley Cup Finals in the same season. Bylsma, 38, was named head coach of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) on August 4, 2008. PITTSBURGH PROMOTES JASON BOTTERILL TO ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Jason Botterill has been named Assistant General Manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. Botterill, 33, replaces Chuck Fletcher, who was named General Manager of the Minnesota Wild. Botterill, who played eight seasons of pro hockey and earned his MBA from the University of Michigan, brings a wide range of experience to his new role. REIRDEN NAMED SIXTH HEAD COACH IN WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON HISTORY

WILKES-BARRE, PA – Todd Reirden has been named the sixth head coach in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins history, it was announced on Wednesday by Pittsburgh Penguins Executive Vice President and General Manager, Ray Shero. Reirden agreed to a multi-year contract after serving as interim head coach since February 18. BEARS SHUT DOWN PENS IN GAME SIX

HERSHEY, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins showed just what an urgent hockey team can do during three home games against the Hershey Bears in the East Division Finals. LETESTU’S LATE TALLY GETS PENS A POINT

WILKES-BARRE, PA - Mark Letestu scored with 3.2 seconds left to force overtime, but the Hershey Bears found a way around John Curry in the shootout to grab a 3-2 win Saturday night at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. BINGHAMTON, NY - Jeff Taffe had a goal and an assist, and John Curry made 38 saves - plus another three in the shootout - to lead the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-2 win over the Binghamton Senators on Wednesday night. CURRY SETS SINGLE SEASON WIN MARK IN 1-0 SHUTOUT AGAINST HERSHEY

HERSHEY, PA - John Curry made 31 saves to record his fourth shutout of the season, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins posted a 1-0 win on Sunday evening in Hershey.
