ZATKOFF BACK IN WILKES-BARRE

By Mike Shields - October 7, 2014 The Penguins were busy at work at the Toyota SportsPlex in preparation for Saturday’s season opener vs. the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.     Today was goaltender Jeff Zatkoff’s first practice with the Penguins after being designated for assignment by Pittsburgh.  Zatkoff was Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s goaltender for the 2012-13 season while appearing in 49 games and posting a 26-20-0 record.  He spent the 2013-14 season on Pittsburgh’s… read more

PENS TO SHOW SUPPORT OF PA STATE TROOPERS ON OPENING WEEKEND

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will be helping to raise funds for the families of Cpl. Bryon Dickson and Trooper Alex Douglas, while showing support for the troopers who are currently engaged in the search for their accused shooter, during the opening weekend of the American Hockey League season. PENS DROP PRESEASON FINALE TO BEARS

A fight-filled afternoon went the hosts way, as the Hershey Bears posted a 6-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday at the Giant Center.  With the win, the Bears finished their preseason schedule at 2-2-0-0, while the Penguins completed exhibition play with a 2-1-0-0 mark. PENS BEAT BEARS, 4-2

October 4, 2014 Rookies ruled the night at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, as four first-year prospects scored goals in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ 4-2 win over the Hershey Bears. The win was the second in as many games for the Penguins in the exhibition season, while the Bears saw their preseason record fall to 2-1-0-0. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins continue their preseason preparations tonight, when they host the Hershey Bears at the Mohegan Sun Arena at 7:05pm. DUMOULIN, FARNHAM ASSIGNED TO WILKES-BARRE

OCTOBER 4, 2014 The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Brian Dumoulin and forward Bobby Farnham to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford. Youth was served on Wednesday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena, as rookies Conor Sheary, Scott Wilson and Bryan Rust each scored goals (as did second-year pro Nick D’Agostino) in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ 4-2 win over the Utica Comets in preseason American Hockey League action.
