PENGUINS RECALL FOUR FROM WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forwards Denver Manderson and Cody Sylvester and defenseman Dustin Stevenson have been recalled from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.  In addition, the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Eric Hartzell to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton from Wheeling.   After being limited to one game with Wheeling last season due to injury, Manderson has opened up 2013-14  with two goals, seven assists and four penalty… read more

NAILERS WEEKEND RECAP

By William Engleman The Wheeling Nailers swept a three-games-in-three-days series with the Elmira Jackals last week, upping their record to 6-5-0-1 on the season. The teams opened the mini-series on November 14th in Wheeling with a hard-fought, 1-0 win by the Nailers.  Rookie netminder Eric Hartzell picked up his first professional win with the shutout, stopping 37 Jackals shots.  Sahir Gill netted the lone goal of the game. GIBBONS RECALLED BY PITTSBURGH

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Brian Gibbons from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Gibbons, 25, has led the way offensively for WBS this season, posting team-high totals with 15 assists and 22 points in 15 games played. SILL RECALLED BY PITTSBURGH

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Zach Sill from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Sill, 25, is a 6-foot, 202-pound forward has played in 13 regular-season games this season for WBS, tallying four points (1G-3A) and 25 penalty minutes. PENGUINS ASSIGN ZLOBIN TO NAILERS

  WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned forward Anton Zlobin from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.    Zlobin, 20, spent the 2012-13 season with Val d’Or of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, leading the Foreurs in assists (62) and points (91), while also scoring 29 goals in 61 games.  He also ranked ninth overall in the league in points and was tied for fourth in assists. … read more

MEGNA REJOINS WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Jayson Megna to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Megna played in six NHL games with Pittsburgh, notching two goals and three points. He scored his first NHL goal against Justin Peters and the Carolina Hurricanes on Oct. 28. RUOPP ASSIGNED TO WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Harrison Ruopp from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.    Ruopp spent four seasons with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League.  The 20-year old totaled three goals, 31 assists and 395 penalty minutes in 214 contests from 2010-2013.  He also appeared in ten playoff games for the Raiders.    Originally a 2011 third-round… read more
