RUOPP ASSIGNED TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

March 27, 2014   WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that defenseman Harrison Ruopp has been assigned from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.    In 16 games with the Penguins this year, Ruopp has posted 32 penalty minutes.  A 21-year old rookie from Zehner, Saskatchewan, Ruopp has also collected three assists and 42 PIM over 19 games for Wheeling.     Ruopp was originally a 2011 third-round draft pick… read more

KOBASEW CONTINUES HOT STREAK IN 2-1 LOSS TO BRUINS

Chuck Kobasew stretched his goal streak to five games, but his tally was the only the Penguins could muster, as the Providence Bruins took a 2-1 win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Wednesday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena. PENGUINS RECALL ROWNEY FROM WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Carter Rowney has been recalled on loan from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL).    The 23-year old rookie returns to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton where he has skated in 16 contests this season, collecting one goal and two assists.  Rowney is currently tied for second on the Nailers with 44 points, having registered 13 goals and 31 assists in the 39 games.  He is also the team leader with a +23 plus/minus… read more

PITTSBURGH ASSIGNS HARTZELL TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that goaltender Eric Hartzell has been assigned from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.    Hartzell, 24, has allowed only six goals in winning his last three starts with the Nailers and raised his record to 6-4-1 with a 3.08 GAA and a .901 save percentage.  The rookie netminder has gone 10-7-1 this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with a 2.30 goals against average, a .908 save percentage… read more

KOBASEW SCORES TWO IN OT VICTORY

Chuck Kobasew’s goal at 1:22 of overtime was the difference, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins posted a 3-2 victory against the Albany Devils on Sunday afternoon at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. COMETS SNAP PENS WINNING STREAK WITH 2-1 VICTORY

Colin Stuart’s goal eight minutes into the third period proved to be the difference, as the Utica Comets skated to a 2-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in front of a sold out Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday night. ARCHIBALD JOINS PENGUINS

BOAK SIGNS ATO WITH PENGUINS
