This past Wednesday night, the Columbus Blue Jackets posted a 3-1 win over the Dallas Stars, securing just the second playoff appearance in the team’s 14-year existence. PITTSBURGH ASSIGNS VOKOUN TO WILKES-BARRE

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned goaltender Tomas Vokoun to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL) on a conditioning assignment, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Vokoun, 37, has not played a regular-season game this season following emergency surgery to dissolve a blood clot in his pelvis back in September. SYLVESTER RECALLED FROM WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that goaltender Eric Hartzell has been assigned to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.  In addition, forward Cody Sylvester has been recalled from loan to Wheeling.    Sylvester has posted two goals and 18 penalty minutes in 17 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and scored in his AHL debut on Nov. 20 at Rochester.  The 21-year old currently leads the Nailers with 24 goals, while also… read more

PENGUINS SIGN WILSON TO ATO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Scott Wilson to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).    The 21-year-old from Oakville, Ontario recently completed his junior season at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell, having registered seven goals, 12 assists and 24 penalty minutes in 31 games.  In three seasons with the River Hawks, Wilson compiled 39 goals and 56 assists over 108 contests and helped lead the team to consecutive… read more

FIVE GOAL FIRST LEADS SENS PAST PENS, 6-2

A five-goal first period was enough to propel the Binghamton Senators to a 6-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday afternoon.  The loss put an end to the Penguins four game winning streak, and allowed the Sens to move back into first place in the East Division. PITTSBURGH RECALLS PAYERL

The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Adam Payerl from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced Sunday by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Payerl, a 6-foot-3, 218-pound forward, will be looking to make his NHL debut later today when the Penguins face the Colorado Avalanche. DRAZENOVIC TALLIES IN OT TO GIVE PENS 1-0 WIN

Nick Drazenovic’s goal at 1:02 of overtime was all that the Penguins needed, as Peter Mannino stopped all 25 shots he faced, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins posted a 1-0 victory against the Albany Devils on Saturday night. PENGUINS STYMIE SOUND TIGERS, 3-0

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins used goals from Bobby Farnham, Chuck Kobasew and Dominik Uher, as well as a 17 save effort from Peter Mannino, to post a 3-0 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Andrew Ebbett from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
