GRACE GOING TO THE NHL

CATCHING UP WITH PETER MANNINO

Catching Up with Peter Mannino Goaltender Peter Mannino was signed to an American Hockey League contract by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on July 24th.  He spent the 2012-13 season with the Manchester Monarchs, but a late-season injury limited Mannino to just 20 games as he posted a 10-7-0 record with 2.47 goals against average and a .919 save percentage.  A native of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Mannino comes to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with a carrer AHL record of a 81-52-8 with… read more

PENGUINS RE-SIGN BRIAN GIBBONS

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Brian Gibbons to a one-year contract, it was announced Monday by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Gibbons’s contract is a two-way deal worth $550,000 at the NHL level. Gibbons, 25, completed his second season with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2012-13, scoring 30 points (8G-22A) in 70 games. WORKIN’ AT THE CAR WASH

If you happened to be in the area of Coal Street Park around 1:00pm on Saturday, you saw what some would consider a strange sight - a six foot tall Penguin washing cars in the parking lot. The Penguin in question was Tux, and the cars belonged to season ticket holders taking part in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins first ever STH Car Wash.
