Pittsburgh Re-Assigns Tangradi to W-B/S

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Eric Tangradi to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.   Tangradi, 22, has played in four games with Pittsburgh this season, going scoreless while averaging 10:23 minutes per game. Tangradi ranks fourth on WBS with 20 points (10G-10A) in 24 contests.   read more

Penguins Collect Over 1,400 Bears for Tobyhanna Army Depot

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – With the help of their fans, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins collected 1,414 stuffed animals for the Tobyhanna Army Depot during the team’s 13th Annual Teddy Bear Toss.   The Teddy Bear Toss this year was held during two home games in December: Friday, December 2 versus the Portland Pirates and Saturday, December 17 against the Norfolk Admirals.   During the first intermission of each game, fans tossed stuffed toys onto the ice where they were collected… read more

PENGUINS ANNOUNCE ROSTER MOVES

  WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have returned forward Chris Barton on loan to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.  In addition, defensemen Peter Merth and Dan Henningson were released from their professional tryout agreements.  Merth will also return to the Nailers, while Henningson heads back to the Chicago Express (ECHL).   The reigning ECHL Rookie of the Month, Barton was held scoreless in three appearances with the Penguins. … read more

Devils Send Penguins into Break with a 2-1 Loss

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Mike Hoeffel’s first two goals of the season were the only offense the Albany Devils needed to defeat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 2-1, on Monday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.  It was the Devils franchise’s first-ever win against the Penguins, who were undefeated through their first 14 meetings.   Hoeffel broke the scoreless tie at 7:49 of the second period, working down the right wing before cutting to the slot and sniping a wrist shot… read more

Thompson Returns to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Paul Thompson has been reassigned from the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Reassigned to Wheeling on Saturday, Thompson had a goal in the Nailers' game that night against the Reading Royals. ADMIRALS FEND OFF PENGUINS, 5-2

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ four-game winning streak came to an end as they were defeated by the Norfolk Admirals, 5-2, on Saturday at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Jason Williams and defenseman Carl Sneep from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
