PENGUINS MELT CHOCOLATE IN FIRST PRESEASON WIN

HERSHEY, PA – Keven Veilleux’s second goal of the game highlighted a three-goal second period, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins battled their way to their first victory of the preseason, 4-2 over the Hershey Bears on Friday night at Giant Center. Veilleux started the damage by keeping the puck on a two-on-one break late in the first period. PITTSBURGH ASSIGNS 13 TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

The Pittsburgh Penguins have trimmed their training camp roster to 29 players, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. JOHN HYNES NAMED WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON PENGUINS ASSISTANT COACH

WILKES-BARRE, PA – John Hynes has been named assistant coach of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League, it was announced today by Pittsburgh Penguins Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins will open their 11th season of play at home on Saturday, October 3, when they take on the Syracuse Crunch. The entire 2009-10 American Hockey League schedule was released on Thursday. JOHN CURRY RE-SIGNS WITH PITTSBURGH

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed goaltender John Curry to a two-year contract, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Ray Shero. WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forwards Wade Brookbank and Wyatt Smith, it was announced on Friday. WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have signed defenseman Mitch Ganzak to an American Hockey League contract, it was announced on Tuesday.
