Penguins Shutout By Devils
Gelinas scores twice, Frazee stops 32 for Albany
ALBANY, N.Y. – Albany goaltender Jeff Frazee made 32 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Devils defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, 3-0, on Saturday at the Times Union Center.
The Devils broke up the scoreless tie with 5:47 left in the second period as Eric Gelinas fired a puck from the slot that flew by a screened Brad Thiessen in net for the Penguins.
After a Wilkes-Barre/Scranton power play expired, Tim Sestito accepted a pass as he came out of the penalty box and was interfered with as he strode in on a breakaway. On the ensuing penalty shot, Sestito went stick side on Thiessen to put Albany ahead, 2-0, with 1:33 until the intermission.
With Penguins on the penalty kill late in the game and their net empty, Gelinas iced the contest with 36 seconds remaining in the third, scoring his 10th goal of the season.
Thiessen stopped 20-of-22 shots from Albany to see his record go to 20-14-2. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton was officially 0-for-6 on the man-advantage and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins wrap up their road trip with a Monday matinee against the Portland Pirates on February 20 at 1:00 PM. For more information, call (570) 208-PENS or visit www.wbspenguins.com
