The holidays will be in full swing when the Penguins take on the Norfolk Admirals this Saturday night at 7:05pm.
Pull on your favorite festive sweater and join the Penguins as we don our special holiday sweaters, modeled after real holiday sweaters. Pens staffers will be wearing their own gaudy winter wear, and we want all of our fans to get in on the action as well. Dig out your reindeer gear, your Santa sweaters, your bedazzled and bell-lined pullovers and sport them at Saturday’s contest.
Don’t have a festive throw-on of your own? You can pick one up after the game, by taking part in our LIVE game-worn holiday jersey auction. All jerseys worn during the meeting with the Admirals will be auctioned off on the ice right after the game, with opening bids on all sweaters starting at just $250. All proceeds from the auction will go to the Penguins United Way Charity Fund and our Tickets for Tots program.
Saturday night is also our second Tobyhanna Army Depot Teddy Bear Toss. Bring a new, unwrapped stuffed animal to the game, and toss it onto the ice during the first intermission. All toys collected will be distributed to less fortunate children throughout Northeast PA through Tobyhanna’s Operation Santa Claus.
In the 12 years the Penguins and Tobyhanna have partnered together, fans have donated more than 14,000 plush toys to the cause.
There will also be some other fun and frivolity going on throughout the night:
SECRET SANTA PUCKS
– The perfect stocking stuffers. Penguins players have autographed 800 pucks, which will be sold for $10 apiece starting at Saturday’s game. The catch: each puck is securely wrapped, so you don’t know whose autograph you are getting until you open the package. Players have also each signed one puck in silver, and anyone who receives one of these special items also gets a signed, game-used stick.
SIDNEY CROSBY JERSEY RAFFLE
– Saturday night’s jersey raffle features a Sidney Crosby autographed Black and Gold Game jersey. The sweater is a Penguins 2011-12 alternate jersey that was issued for the Black and Gold Game, features Crosby’s name, number, autograph and a Black and Gold Game jersey patch. Tickets for the raffle are one for $10 and three for $20.
– The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a Penguins 2011 Nutcracker. The figurine stands 5” tall and features the Penguins 2011 holiday sweater.
McCARTHY TIRE TOSS
– Here’s your chance to walk away with $500. The McCarthy Tire Toss will take place during the second period of Saturday’s game. Small, numbered, rubber tires can be purchased on the concourse during the game for just $1. During the second intermission, fans will be able to toss the tires onto the ice, and if any tire lands completely in the bulls eye at center ice, that fan wins $500. Proceeds benefit the Penguins United Way Charity Fund.
