WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that forward Tom Kuhnhackl and defenseman Harrison Ruopp have been assigned to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Kuhnhackl has collected eight goals, two assists and 22 penalty minutes in 48 games this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Last Friday, the 22-year old made his first appearance of the season with Wheeling, skating in the Nailers’ 6-4 come-from-behind victory over the Elmira Jackals.
In 2012-13, Kuhnhackl was limited to 11 contests with the Penguins due to injury and registered four points (2g-2a) and 6 PIM. Originally from Landshut, Germany, Kuhnhackl was a fourth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins (110th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
In 11 games with the Penguins this season, Ruopp has posted 18 penalty minutes. A 20-year old rookie from Zehner, Saskatchewan, Ruopp has also recorded two assists and 21 PIM over 12 games for Wheeling.

Originally a 2011 third-round draft pick (84th overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes, Ruopp was acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins on June 22, 2012.
