NailersThe ECHL season is just two weeks old, and the Wheeling Nailers are off to a decent start, with a 1-2-0-0 record through their first three contests.

With the first week and a half in the books the Nailers are currently second in the Atlantic Division standings, one game behind Reading with one game in hand on the Royals.  They are ranked ninth in the Eastern Conference standings overall.

The Nailers kicked off their season at home with a 3-2 win over the Elmira Jackals on October 18th.  Rookie goalie Mike Condon made 40 saves, and Christiaan Minella scored two goals - one of them being the game winner in the third period.

The Nailers then took to the road the next night to face the Cincinnati Cyclones, who defeated Wheeling by a score of 4-2.  Condon made 23 saves in the loss, while Ryan Flanigan and Jack MacLellan had the only goals for the Nailers.

On October 26th the Nailers traveled to Toledo to face the Walleye, and were shut out 2-0. Condon made 27 saves in the Nailers second straight loss.

Through the first three games Condon is 1-2-0-0 with a 2.36 goal against average which ranks 14th in the ECHL, and 10th in the Eastern Conference. He ranks 10th in the ECHL in save percentage with 0.928%, and seventh in the Eastern Conference.  Condon also ranks fifth overall in the ECHL, and second in the Eastern Conference, with 90 saves. 

After three games, Christiaan Minella leads the Nailers with two goals, and was in a three player tie for the team points lead with Zack Torquato  (1G, 1A) and Carter Rowney (0G, 2A).  

Penguins contracted players currently suiting up in Wheeling include Minella, Cody Sylvester, Rowney, and Denver Manderson.

This upcoming weekend the Nailers play back-to-back games at home. On November 1st the Royals travel to Wheeling for the first of 15 meetings between the teams.  The following night the Greenville Road Warriors make the trip to West Virginia for their only appearance in the state this season.  Greenville currently leads Wheeling by one point in the conference standings.
