WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – With the help of their Thanks 4 Giving program, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Rocky, Sue and Lissa from 98.5 KRZ helped raise $1,008 for the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen.
As a part of their Thanks 4 Giving efforts, the Penguins offered a special ticket deal that included a ticket for their November 25 game against the Hershey Bears, a Penguins hat and a food voucher for a hot dog, soda and popcorn. Four dollars of each ticket sold went to benefit the soup kitchen.
98.5 KRZ’s morning radio team also put together a team of volunteer workers to help do all the prep work on Tuesday, November 22 for the at the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen’s Thanksgiving dinner that week.
The check was presented by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins CEO Jeff Barrett and Rocky before the team’s game on Tuesday, December 13 against the Binghamton Senators. Accepting the check on behalf of the St. Vincent DePaul Soup Kitchen were Board Chairman, Attorney Carl Frank and Msgr. Joseph P. Kelly, Diocesan Director of Catholic Social Services.
