PENGUINS CRUISE BY CRUNCH, 4-1
SYRACUSE, NY - Tim Wallace posted his first career multi-goal game, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins posted a 4-1 win over the Syracuse Crunch Saturday night at the OnCenter. The win upped the Pens' record to 29-16-1-2, while Syracuse dropped to 22-20-3-2.
Wallace scored a pair of goals in the second period, overcoming a 1-0 Crunch lead and giving the Penguins forward three goals in his past two games.
Deryk Engelland posted his first goal of the season 18 seconds after Wallace's second goal to give the Pens a little extra padding, and Luca Caputi finished off the scoring with his lucky 13th goal of the season with under three minutes to play.
The win allowed Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to keep pace with the first place Hershey Bears, who recorded a 4-2 win against the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday. Hershey has a nine point cushion in the race for the East Division.
