Penguins Hold on for Road Win over Admirals
Kolarik records third multi-point effort in last four games

NORFOLK, VA. – Chad Kolarik gathered a pair of assists and Chris Collins notched his first goal of the season as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins earned key 3-2 win versus the Norfolk Admirals at the Norfolk Scope.
The Penguins opened the scoring for the fourth straight contest as Trevor Smith’s 21st of the season came off a fortuitous bounce.  Smith had his backhand shot poked away by Norfolk goalie Frederik Andersen, but the loose puck deflected off the skate of the Penguins forward and across the goal line at 4:02 of the first.

Riley Holzapfel then doubled Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s lead with 4:59 left until the second intermission, taking a pass from Kolarik on a 3-on-2 and picking a corner to bury his 18th goal of the year.  Kolarik’s assist was his second of the match, giving him his third multi-point game over the last four.

Another odd-man rush helped put the Penguins ahead, 3-0, just over three minutes later. A 4-on-1 jailbreak by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton saw Andersen deny the initial shot, but Brian Dumoulin got rebound over to Collins, who deposited the puck in the open net.

Norfolk found the scoreboard 2:22 into the third period on Kyle Bonis’s first goal as professional.  Newly signed out of Ferris State University, Bonis caught up to a long clearing attempt and beat Jeff Zatkoff with a quick wrist shot to make the score, 3-1.

With 5:32 left in regulation, the Admirals pulled within one while skating on the team’s fourth power play of the game.  From the blueline, Hampus Lindholm threw a shot on net that was redirected in front by Devante Smith-Pelly.

That would be last goal allowed by Zatkoff, who finished with 17 saves on 19 shots to raise his record to 23-19-0 on the season.
