Nailers goaltender returns to Wheeling for regular season finale

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have released goaltender Scott Darling from his professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Signed to a PTO by the Penguins on March 27, Darling did not make an appearance with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.  The 24-year old has gone 13-12-3 with the Wheeling Nailers over 31 games this season and posted one shutout, a 2.80 goals against average and a .906 save percentage.  The third-year pro made his American Hockey League debut earlier this year, signing a PTO with Hamilton on Nov. 14 and skating in one game for the Bulldogs.

A sixth-round pick (#153rd overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Darling played collegiate hockey with the University of Maine from 2008-10.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins battle the Binghamton Senators tonight at 7:05pm.
