The Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned defenseman Alex Grant from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced on Wednesday. Grant, 20, appeared in four games with the Penguins, posting one goal, five penalty minutes and a plus-3 rating. He recorded his first AHL goal on November 27th against the Rochester Americans. Grant spent the majority of his junior career with the Saint John Sea Dogs (QMJHL) and a portion of last season with the Shawinigan Cataractes (QMJHL). He totaled 124 points (40+84) in 222 games with Saint John, and 19 points (4+15) in 23 games with Shawinigan. He was drafted by Pittsburgh in the fourth round (118th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins host the Hartford Wolf Pack this Saturday, December 5th at 7:05 pm. The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a John Curry bobblehead figure courtesy of Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
