Penguins’ Magic Number is Four with Five to Play
Weekly Rewind
Fri., Apr. 4 – PENGUINS 3 vs. Bridgeport 0
Bobby Farnham provided the only offense the Penguins would need at 10:13 of the first and Peter Mannino stopped all 17 shots in a 3-0 shutout of the Sound Tigers.
 
Sat., Apr. 5 – PENGUINS 1 vs. Albany 0 (OT)
A scoreless tie was finally ended by Nick Drazenovic at 1:02 of overtime, lifting W-B/Scranton to a 1-0 victory over the Devils.  Mannino made it consecutive shutouts with 25 saves.
 
Sun., Apr. 6 – Penguins 2 at BINGHAMTON 6
The Senators stormed out of the gates with a five-goal first period in downing the Penguins, 6-2, in Binghamton.  Spencer Machacek scored twice in the contest for W-B/Scranton.
 
The Week Ahead
Fri., Apr. 11– Penguins at SYRACUSE
This is the tenth and final meeting of the season between the Penguins and Crunch (29-30-4-7).  Mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, Syracuse has gone 5-1-0-1 in its last seven games.  The Penguins are 6-2-0-1 this year versus Syracuse.
 
Sat., Apr. 12 – PENGUINS vs. Binghamton
Binghamton (41-23-1-5) currently sits in first place in the East Division, owning the tie-breaker over W-B/Scranton with a game in hand.  The Penguins and Senators will face off for the final time this regular season on April 18 in Binghamton. 
 
Sun., Apr. 13 – PENGUINS vs. Toronto
Toronto (42-22-24) has clinched the North Division and is six points behind Grand Rapids for the second seed in the Western Conference with two games in hand. The Penguins have won the last three meetings against the Marlies.  
Ice Chips
- With five games left in their regular season, the Penguins have a magic number of four. They also trail St. John’s by just two points for the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. 
- W-B/Scranton’s 1-0 win over Albany on Saturday was the team’s third 1-0 shutout victory of the season.   
- For the second time this season, Peter Mannino has recorded back-to-back shutouts.  Making 42 total saves in wins over Bridgeport and Albany, Mannino’s shutout streak currently stands at 135:03.      
- Spencer Machacek’s two-goal game on Sunday versus Binghamton was his third for W-B/Scranton since being acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins on Feb. 6.
