PENGUINS WEEKLY RELEASE #10
WBS Travels to Face Sens and Crunch
Penguins try to get back into win column before holiday break
LAST WEEK’S RESULTS
Wednesday, December 12: Penguins 3, DEVILS 6…
Devils forward Bobby Butler tied a franchise record, recording four goals and five points as Albany doubled up Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, 6-3, at Times Union Center.
With the score tied, 1-1, heading into the second period, the Devils broke the game open in the opening two minutes as Harri Pesonen scored 44 seconds before Butler picked up his second goal of the night. Butler later completed his hat trick, while notching the eventual game-winner on a shorthanded breakaway goal.
Riley Holzapfel, Brian Dumoulin and Jayson Megna each scored for the Penguins.
Friday, December 14: PENGUINS 1, Senators 3…
Binghamton was an opportunistic 2-for-5 on the power play in a 3-1 win over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza.
The Senators staked a 2-0 lead as Hugh Jessiman converted on the man-advantage at 13:19 of the first and Jakob Silfverberg later scored with 5:45 left in the second period during a 5-on-4. Trevor Smith would pick up a 4-on-4 tally midway through the final frame to get the Penguins within one, but Peter Wiercioch helped seal the win for Binghamton, finding the back of the net with less than four minutes left in the contest.
Saturday, December 15: Penguins 0, CRUNCH 4…
Syracuse shutout Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on the road for the first time since Mar. 25, 2011 in a 4-0 win on Onondaga County War Memorial at Oncenter.
Brett Connolly’s goal at 14:35 of the first was the only marker needed for the Crunch as goaltender Dustin Tokarski was perfect on 29 shots for his first shutout of the season. Syracuse went 2-of-6 on the power play with Tyler Johnson and Alex Killorn each registering a goal and an assist.
