PENGUINS WEEKLY RELEASE #18
Pens Split Weekend Series with Norfolk
WBS takes ice this week for four games in six days
LAST WEEK’S RESULTS
Friday, February 8: Penguins 1, ADMIRALS 4
Jay Rosehill and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond each posted three points to lead the Admirals to a 4-1 win over the Penguins at the Norfolk Scope.
Warren Peters would knot the score for the Penguins, 1-1, with his eighth goal of the season, coming with 1:18 left before the second intermission. In the final period, Norfolk posted a three-spot to earn the win as Josh Brittan, Rosehill and Letourneau-Leblond each found the back of the net over a span of 5:57.
Brad Thiessen suffered the loss for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with 23 saves on 27 shots.
Saturday, February 9: Penguins 4, ADMIRALS 1
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton got its revenge the following night and split the weekend with Norfolk, skating to a 4-1 triumph.
Trevor Smith opened the scoring for the Penguins late in the opening frame, but it was Beau Bennett’s power play goal 47 seconds into the middle period that proved to be the eventual game-winner.
The Admirals cut that lead in half almost 11 minutes later on Peter Holland’s shorthanded tally. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton would receive goals in the third from Riley Holzapfel and Warren Peters to outpace the opposition. Jeff Zatkoff stopped 25-of-26 for his fifth straight win.
