PENGUINS WEEKLY RELEASE #30
W-B/Scranton Sweep Binghamton to Move on to Next Round
Home Games B and C for Eastern Conference Semifinal set for May 15th and 17th

LAST WEEK’S RESULTS

Game 3 - Thursday, May 2 – PENGUINS 3 vs. Senators 2
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins used a three-goal third period to rally for a 3-2 win over the Binghamton Senators and sweep the best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series.

The Penguins trailed for much of the contest after Matt Puemple converted a turnover just five minutes into the first period for a 1-0 Binghamton lead.  The score stayed the same until 7:32 of the third period when Zach Sill poked home a shorthanded tally to even the score.  Skating on the power play with less than two minutes remaining in regulation, Riley Holzapfel potted his second of the postseason to give Wilkes-Barre/Scranton the lead for good.

Jayson Megna’s empty-net goal with 28 seconds left turned out to be the game-winner after Mark Borowiecki netted an extra-attacker goal with 18.1 to go.  In his first start of the postseason, Brad Thiessen made 19 saves on 21 shots.

- Dylan Reese is tied for third among defensemen in the playoffs with a +4 plus/minus rating.
