PITTSBURGH SIGNS WILL O’NEILL

July 2, 2015   The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed defenseman Will O’Neill to a one-year, two-way contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.   The deal has an average annual value of $575,000 at the NHL level.   O’Neill, 27, was one of the top offensive defensemen in the American Hockey League (AHL) this year, ranking fifth among all league blueliners with 48 points (10G-38A) in 72 games with the St. John’s IceCaps.… read more

PENS STOCK UP ON FIRST DAY OF FREE AGENCY

July 1, 2015 The Pittsburgh Penguins struck the biggest deal of the offseason with the acquisition of Phil Kessel from the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday.  The fifth overall pick in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, the 27-year old Kessel has recorded 247 goals and 520 points in eight seasons with the Boston Bruins (2006-09) and Toronto Maple Leafs (2009-15). PITTSBURGH INKS CONOR SHEARY TO NHL DEAL

  July 1, 2015   The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Conor Sheary to a two-year entry-level contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.   Sheary, 23, completed his first full professional season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2014-15, compiling a team-high 45 points (20G-25A) – the seventh-highest total among AHL rookies – in 58 regular-season games .
