BEARS BEAT BACK PENS, 4-1

The Hershey Bears netted a pair of first period goals just 40 seconds apart and never looked back, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins dropped a 4-1 decision at the Giant Center on Saturday night.  It was the first home game of the 2014-15 season for the Bears (4-2-0-0, T-1st place in East Division), who will face off with the Penguins (3-4-0-0, 3rd place in East Division) 11 more times this season. PENS FACE THE FALCONS ON FRIDAY NIGHT

The Penguins return home Friday night to face the Springfield Falcons at 7:05pm. The Pens (2-3-0-0, T-3rd in East Division) posted a 2-1-0-0 record in their first round trip of the season, which included a pair of victories in St. John's (2-1 OT on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday), as well as a 4-0 loss in Albany on Tuesday night. PENS ASSIGN RUOPP TO WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Harrison Ruopp from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced today.    A second-year pro from Zehner, Saskatchewan, Ruopp has appeared in one game for Wilkes-Barre/Sranton this year. HARTZELL ASSIGNED TO WBS
