COAL STREET HOCKEY SCHOOL STARTS AUGUST 10

  It’s back to school time at the Toyota SportsPlex, as the fourth annual COAL STREET HOCKEY SCHOOL returns to the rink from Monday, August 10 through Friday, August 14.   The school features instruction from Mike Dennis (Wyoming Seminary boys coach), Jay Spess (Jr. Pes U-16 & U-18 coach), Brian Tweedy (Wyoming Seminary girls coach) and Don Tweedy (Toyota SportsPlex hockey director), with special appearances from members of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins throughout the week.… read more

PENGUINS SIGN GOALTENDER BRIAN FOSTER

August 3, 2015   WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed goaltender Brian Foster to an American Hockey League contract for the 2015-16 season.    Foster, 28, is entering his sixth year of professional hockey after playing the 2014-15 season with Lillehammer IK of the GET-ligaen in Norway.       A four-year letterman at the University of New Hampshire (2006-10), Foster went 40-29-13 over 86 games with the… read more

UHER RE-SIGNS WITH PITTSBURGH

July 17, 2015   The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Dominik Uher to a one-year contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.   The deal is a two-way contract that carries an average annual value of $575,000 at the NHL level.   Uher, 22, has spent most of the past three years playing in the American Hockey League for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. PITTSBURGH PENGUINS RE-SIGN BEAU BENNETT

July 15, 2015   The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed forward Beau Bennett to a one-year contract, it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Jim Rutherford.   The deal carries an average annual value of $800,000.   Bennett, 23, finished the 2014-15 season with four goals, eight assists and 12 points in 49 games.
