WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Harrison Ruopp from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL.
Ruopp spent four seasons with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League. The 20-year old totaled three goals, 31 assists and 395 penalty minutes in 214 contests from 2010-2013. He also appeared in ten playoff games for the Raiders.
Originally a 2011 third-round draft pick (84th overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes, Ruopp was acquired by the Pittsburgh Penguins on June 22, 2012 with a 2012 third-round draft pick (Oskar Sundqvist) and Marc Cheverie in exchange for Zbynek Michalek.
