The Pittsburgh Penguins have recalled forward Zach Sill from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced today by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Sill, 25, is a 6-foot, 202-pound forward has played in 13 regular-season games this season for WBS, tallying four points (1G-3A) and 25 penalty minutes. Sill also appeared in two preseason games for Pittsburgh in September.
Sill, a native of Truro, Nova Scotia, has spent the past five seasons playing with WBS, notching 31 goals, 40 assists, 71 points, 306 penalty minutes and a plus-20 in 272 career AHL regular-season games. He has added 11 points (6G-5A) in 43 postseason contests.
Sill, who was originally signed by the Penguins as an undrafted free agent, posted his best offensive totals with WBS in 2010-11, establishing career highs in goals (11), assists (19) and points (30) while playing in all 80 regular-season contests.
Prior to turning pro, Sill played two seasons of junior hockey with the Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) between 2007-09, amassing 50 points (27G-23A) in 124 regular-season games.
