The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward ZACH SILL to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL), it was announced Thursday by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero.
Sill, 25, has played in 20 NHL games this season with Pittsburgh, serving as a major contributor to the Penguins’ No. 1-ranked penalty killing unit by averaging 1:54 shorthanded minutes per game.
The fifth-year pro began the season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, recording five points (2+3) in 14 games with the AHL club. An undrafted free agent, Sill has recorded 72 points (32+40) and 308 penalty minutes in 273 career games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The Penguins take to the road for three games this weekend, starting with a Friday-Satruday set in Norfolk against the Admirals. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton finishes up the trip with a Sunday afternoon contest against the Hershey Bears.
