BINGHAMTON, NY - Jeff Taffe had a goal and an assist, and John Curry made 38 saves - plus another three in the shootout - to lead the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 3-2 win over the Binghamton Senators on Wednesday night. The win moved the Penguins withing three points of the East Division leading Hershey Bears, who dropped a 3-2 decision to the Norfolk Admirals on Wednesday. The Penguins host Hershey this Saturday evening at 7:05pm. Taffe and Mark Letestu sandwiched goals around tallies from Zack Smith and Derek Smith to force overtime. Jeff Glass starred in regulaiton and overtime, stopping 47 shots - including 19 in the third period. He also snuffed a Nick Johnson penalty shot in the first period, keeping the Pens with just one successful attempt in the team's history. The Penguins were much better at the one-on-one challenge in the shootout, as Miroslav Satan, Janne Pesonen and Mark Letestu scored on consecutive shots. John Curry allowed a Greg Mauldin goal on the first attempt he faced, but stopped the next three to secure the win for the Penguins.
