TAFFE TIES TEAM MARK IN WIN OVER PHANTOMS
PHILADELPHIA, PA – Jeff Taffe tied the Penguins record for assists in a game, setting up all four goals in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 4-0 win against the Philadelphia Phantoms on Friday night at the Spectrum.
The win upped the Pens record to 18-11-1-1 on the season, and moved the team to within one point of the third place Phantoms in the East Division standings.
Taffe became the sixth Penguin to post four assists in a game, and the first since Alex Goligoski accomplished the feat on New Year's Eve last season. Taffe moved into a tie for sixth place in the AHL scoring race with the four-point evening.
But he still trails teammate Chris Minard, who notched two goals and added an assist on the night and now trails Hershey's Keith Aucoin by one point for the AHL scoring lead. Minard leads the league with 22 goals, and picked up his league-best sixth game-winning tally in the win.
John Curry stopped 24 shots for his first shutout of the season, and the fourth of his Penguins career.
Luca Caputi and Ryan Stone scored goals for the Penguins, while Jon D'Aversa picked up two assists in the win.
