The red hot Wheeling Nailers continued their hot streak last week, posting a 3-0-0-1 mark in four contests.  After starting the season by going just 3-5-0-1, the Nailers have posted an 8-0-0-2 mark in their past 10 games, raising their overall record to 11-5-0-3, good for first place in the Atlantic Division.

The Nailers continues a five-game road swing in Cincinnati on Thanksgiving eve, posting a 3-0 victory over the Cyclones.  Zack Torquato picked up his team-high sixth goal of the season, which proved to be the game-winner, and added an assist on Max MacKay’s second period goal.  Scott Zurevinski finished off the scoring at 15:08 of the third period. Goaltender Mike Condon made 38 saves to record his first shutout of the season.

Wheeling’s road odyssey came to an end in Elmira on Friday night.  Anton Zlobin and Tyler Fernandez recorded first period goals, and the Nailers never looked back en route to a 3-1 win over the Jackals. Sahir Gill tallied early in the third to finish off the scoring for the Nailers. Condon picked up his fourth consecutive win by making 34 saves.

The Nailers returned to the friendly confines of the WesBanco Arena on Saturday to face Toledo Walleye.  Zlobin’s first period tally proved to be the game-winner, as Mathieu Corbeil made 39 saves in his ECHL debut to post a 3-0 shutout win.  Ben Duffy picked up his first two professional goals to help the Nailers to the victory.

Wheeling’s win streak was snapped at five games on Sunday, as the Cyclones posted a 3-2 shootout victory.  The Nailers battled back from a 2-0 deficit with a pair of third period goals from Fernandez and Paul Cianfrini just 2:25 apart to force overtime.  The Cyclones netted twice in the shootout to grab the extra point, with former Nailers forward Paul Crowder picking up the decisive goal for the visitors.

The Nailers continue their season-long nine-game homestand this weekend with games against the Reading royals on Friday, December 6th, and the Cyclones on Saturday, December 7th.
