DESLAURIERS, HARTZELL WIN HARRY “HAP” HOLMES MEMORIAL AWARD

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today that goaltenders Jeff Deslauriers and Eric Hartzell are the recipients of the Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award for the 2013-14 season.   Since 1972, the award has been presented to the goaltender(s) with at least 25 games played on the team which allows the fewest goals in the regular season.   Wilkes-Barre/Scranton surrendered a league-low 185 goals… read more

PENS TO FACE SENATORS IN FIRST ROUND OF PLAYOFFS

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today announced the schedule for their best-of-five Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against the Binghamton Senators in the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs. PENS FALL TO COMETS IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE, 2-0

Peter Andersson and Pascal Pelletier handled the scoring, while Joacim Eriksson stopped all 27 shots he faces, as the Utica Comets posted a 2-0 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in both teams’ regular season finales. SENS HOLD OFF PENS COMEBACK TO CLAIM EAST DIVISION TITLE

Jean-Gabriel Pageau picked up the hat trick as the Binghamton Senators jumped out to a 5-0 lead after 26:46 of play, then saw his team hold off the Penguins, 5-4, on Friday night. FRIENDS AND FOES

CONNER JOINS WBS FOR CONDITIONING

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned Chris Conner to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for conditioning, it was announced on Wednesday morning.   Conner, 30, recorded five points (4+1) in 19 games with the NHL Penguins before being put on injured reserve on January 3.  He also posted 11 points (6G-5A) in 15 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton earlier this year. GOERS GIVES BACK

Being a professional hockey player has given Barry Goers a chance to see cities throughout North America – from Abbotsford to Anchorage, from Boise to Bridgeport.
