PENS ICE ST JOHN’S, 4-1

October 18, 2014 The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and never looked back, as the road team skated to a 4-1 win over the St. John’s IceCaps at the Mile One Centre on Saturday night.  The win was the second in as many nights for the Penguins (2-2-0-0, 4 pts), while the IceCaps (1-2-2-0, 4 pts) saw their winless streak reach three games. PENS AND ICECAPS - ROUND TWO

The Penguins will look to build on their Friday night success when they meet up with the St. John's IceCaps in the second of two games tonight at the Mile One Centre in Newfoundland. PENS BATTLE BACK FOR 2-1 OT WIN

October 17, 2014 Reid McNeill’s goal at 2:56 of overtime snapped a two-game losing streak, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins battled back to post a 2-1 win over the St. John’s IceCaps on Friday night at the Mile One Centre.  The victory was the first of the year for the Penguins (1-2-0-0, 2 pts), who spoiled the IceCaps’ (1-1-2-0, 4pts) home opener.   McNeill, who tallied just one goal while appearing in 55 games with the Penguins last season, made the most of an offensive… read more

RETURN TO THE ROCK

The Penguins return to the rock this weekend to face the St. John’s IceCaps in a two-game series on Friday and Saturday nights.  Both contests begin at 6:00pm Eastern Standard Time. The Pens and IceCaps last met this past June in the 2014 Eastern Conference Final, which St. John’s captured in six games.  The IceCaps advanced to the Calder Cup Final, where they fell to the Texas Stars in five games. PENGUINS SIGN TORQUATO TO PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Zack Torquato to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).    Torquato, 25, recorded two goals, five assists and 22 penalty minutes in 18 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last year.  The Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario-native also appeared in 44 games for the ECHL’s Wheeling Nailers during the 2013-14 season, ranking second on the squad with 52 points (14G-38A) and 38 assists.  … read more

PHANTOMS SCARE OFF PENGUINS, 5-2

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms enjoyed the spoils in their first game as an Allentown-based squad, using three power play goals to post a 5-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in both teams' season opener.
