PENGUINS FIRE EARLY, HOLD ON LATE TO DEFEAT AMERICANS

PENGUINS BACK IN PLAYOFF PICTURE WITH 2-1 WIN OVER ADMIRALS

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Nick Johnson scored a power play goal late in the first period, and had it stand up as the game-winner as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins defeated the Norfolk Admirals by a 2-1 score on Wednesday night at Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza. PENGUINS ANNOUNCE CLEAR DAY ROSTER

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have set their roster for the American Hockey League’s Clear Day period, it was announced on Thursday. According to AHL by-laws, only those 22 players (20 skaters and two goaltenders) listed on a team’s Clear Day roster are eligible to compete in the remaining five weeks of the 2009-10 AHL regular season and in the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs, unless emergency conditions arise as a result of recall, injury or suspension. PENGUINS NAMED TO MANAGE COAL STREET PARK

Mayor Thomas M. Leighton hosted an "Open House" to showcase the facilities available at Coal Street Park on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 9. HERSHEY, Pa. – Braden Holtby fashioned a 25-save shutout, and league-leading scorer Keith Aucoin registered three points to help the Hershey Bears to a 4-0 blanking of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday night at Giant Center. SYRACUSE, NY. – The Syracuse Crunch tallied three times in the third period, twice on the power play and once shorthanded, en route to a 5-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night at the War Memorial at OnCenter. HADDAD RETURNS TO WILKES-BARRE

The Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned forward Joey Haddad from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced on Thursday. The 22-year-old native of Sydney, Nova Scotia has appeared in 19 games with the Penguins this season, posting three assists and 22 penalty minutes. PENGUINS BEGIN MARCH WITH 4-2 WIN OVER ADMIRALS

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Konstantin Pushkarev scored the game-winning goal, and John Curry turned aside 27 shots to help the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to a 4-2 victory over the Norfolk Admirals.
