MONARCHS DOWN PENS IN TRIPLE OT TO TAKE GAME 1

Game Sheet   MANCHESTER, N.H.  – The second-longest game in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton history saw Zach O’Brien end things at 4:13 of triple overtime as the Manchester Monarchs defeated the Penguins, 4-3, on Wednesday in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinal.    The game was tied, 2-2, in the second period when Monarchs defenseman Colin Miller gave his team their third lead of the contest.  Gathering a clean win in the draw by Jordan Weal, Miller sneaked a wrist… read more

PENGUINS WEEKLY - 5/5/15

Penguins to Face Monarchs in Eastern Conference Semifinal   Weekly Rewind Wed., Apr. 29 – Penguins 5 at SYRACUSE 2 W-B/Scranton went a perfect 3-for-3 on the power play and Conor Sheary gathered two goals and an assist to help lead the Penguins to a 5-2 win over the Syracuse Crunch and a three-game sweep of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal.  With the score tied at one in the second, Sheary scored at 2:39 to give the Penguins a lead they would never relinquish.  W-B/Scranton… read more

KING PENGUIN

By Brian Coe   He’s known around these parts as ‘Mr. Penguin,’ and rightfully so.     Tom Kostopoulos has appeared in more games (478), scored more goals (138), put up more assists (206) and recorded more points (344) than anyone to ever pull on a Pens sweater.    The 204th overall pick in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Kostopoulos spent parts of his first five seasons in Wilkes-Barre, while also appearing in 79 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins.  During… read more

PENGUINS ADD FOUR FROM WHEELING

  WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Eric Hartzell and defenseman Harrison Ruopp to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced today.  In addition, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has recalled defenseman Clark Seymour from loan to Wheeling.   Hartzell went 2-0-0 with a 2.92 goals against average and a .882 save percentage in two appearances this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.  Currently in his second season… read more

PENGUINS RELEASE SHAMANSKI FROM PTO
