PITTSBURGH ASSIGNS HARTZELL TO WILKES-BARRE/SCRANTON

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that goaltender Eric Hartzell has been assigned from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.    Hartzell, 24, has allowed only six goals in winning his last three starts with the Nailers and raised his record to 6-4-1 with a 3.08 GAA and a .901 save percentage.  The rookie netminder has gone 10-7-1 this season for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with a 2.30 goals against average, a .908 save percentage… read more

KOBASEW SCORES TWO IN OT VICTORY

Chuck Kobasew’s goal at 1:22 of overtime was the difference, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins posted a 3-2 victory against the Albany Devils on Sunday afternoon at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. COMETS SNAP PENS WINNING STREAK WITH 2-1 VICTORY

Colin Stuart’s goal eight minutes into the third period proved to be the difference, as the Utica Comets skated to a 2-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in front of a sold out Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday night. ARCHIBALD JOINS PENGUINS

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Josh Archibald to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).    Archibald just completed a record-setting junior season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, where he registered 29 goals, 14 assists and 62 penalty minutes in 37 games, setting a new school and career mark for goals scored in a season.   A 21-year old from Brainerd, Minnesota, Archibald was recently named a Hobey Baker… read more

BOAK SIGNS ATO WITH PENGUINS

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed defenseman Alex Boak to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).    Boak was a four-year letterman for the men’s ice hockey team at Clarkson University and totaled seven goals, 24 assists and 357 penalty minutes over 148 games from 2010-14.  The 24-year from Norwood, New York joins the Penguins after finishing his senior season with the Golden Knights, where he posted five assists over… read more

Peter Mannino stopped 16 shots en route to his second consecutive shutout, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins posted a 2-0 win over the Syracuse Crunch on Friday night at the OnCenter.  The win was the fifth in a row for the Penguins (35-20-3-5, 78 points), who remain one point behind the Binghamton Senators in the race for the East Division title. MARCANTUONI AGREES TO ATO WITH PENS

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Matia Marcantuoni to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).    Marcantuoni, 20, just finished his fourth season with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. BENNETT TO JOIN WBS

According to the Pittsburgh Penguins official website, forward Beau Bennett could be suiting up for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this weekend. MEGNA RETURNS TO WILKES-BARRE

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Jayson Megna to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced on Wednesday by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Megna, a second-year pro, had one goal in two games during his most recent recall by Pittsburgh.  He has recorded eight points (5+3) in 26 regular season games with the NHL club this season.
