MARCANTUONI AGREES TO ATO WITH PENS

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Matia Marcantuoni to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).    Marcantuoni, 20, just finished his fourth season with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League. BENNETT TO JOIN WBS

According to the Pittsburgh Penguins official website, forward Beau Bennett could be suiting up for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this weekend. The second-year pro has been on the sidelines since suffering a wrist/hand injury on November 22, and has been assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a conditioning assignment. PENS VISIT RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE

Spencer Machacek and Barry Goers from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins took time on St. Patrick’s Day to stop by the Danville Ronald McDonald House to assist in providing dinner to the guests.  The House provides a home-away-from-home for families of children being hospitalized or receiving outpatient care at area hospitals. MEGNA RETURNS TO WILKES-BARRE

The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forward Jayson Megna to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced on Wednesday by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. Megna, a second-year pro, had one goal in two games during his most recent recall by Pittsburgh.  He has recorded eight points (5+3) in 26 regular season games with the NHL club this season. HARTZELL ASSIGNED TO WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that goaltender Eric Hartzell has been assigned to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) by the Pittsburgh Penguins.    Hartzell, 24, has posted a record of 10-7-1 for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with a 2.30 goals against average, a .908 save percentage and three shutouts.  The rookie netminder has gone 4-4-1 with Wheeling, while compiling a 3.32 GAA and a .896 save percentage.   Hartzell was named USA Hockey College… read more

PENS HAVE LUCK OF THE IRISH VERSUS NORFOLK

The luck of the Irish was with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday night.  Wearing their traditional shamrock sweaters, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton downed the Norfolk Admirals, 4-0, at the Mohegan Sun Arena.  The win snapped a 12-game home winless streak against Norfolk.  Prior to Saturday, the Penguins’ last home win versus the Admirals came on February 26, 2011. ZLOBIN PICKS UP THREE POINTS IN 5-1 WIN OVER HAMILTON

Anton Zlobin potted two goals and added an assist and Peter Mannino stopped 26 shots en route to a 5-1 Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins win against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.  The victory, coupled with a Norfolk loss in Binghamton, gives the Penguins sole possession of first place in the East Division standings.
