PENGUINS ASSIGN HARTZELL TO WHEELING

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned goaltender Eric Hartzell from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL), it was announced today.     The 25-year old second-year pro went 10-8-1 last year for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton with a 2.48 goals against average, a .901 save percentage, three shutouts and was named AHL Goaltender of the Month for January.    In 14 appearances with Wheeling, Hartzell posted a record of 8-5-1 with a 3.13… read more

PENGUINS INK MUROVICH

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced today that they have signed forward Tyler Murovich to a one-year American Hockey League contract and assigned him to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL).    Murovich, 24, split last season between the Iowa Wild (AHL) and Orlando Solar Bears of the ECHL.  In 60 games with Orlando, Murovich posted 18 goals, 12 assists and 64 penalty minutes, while notching one goal in 14 appearances with Iowa.   Now entering his fifth… read more

ZATKOFF BACK IN WILKES-BARRE

PENS DROP PRESEASON FINALE TO BEARS

A fight-filled afternoon went the hosts way, as the Hershey Bears posted a 6-1 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday at the Giant Center.  With the win, the Bears finished their preseason schedule at 2-2-0-0, while the Penguins completed exhibition play with a 2-1-0-0 mark. October 4, 2014 Rookies ruled the night at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Saturday, as four first-year prospects scored goals in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ 4-2 win over the Hershey Bears.
